Carol Orwin

I am an Animalier, interested in the muscular form, movement, power and nature of the animal that I model. Sculptures vary in size from ½ to double life size, modeled in clay with limited editions from my own rubber silicone moulds.

I cast in Polymer resins using various metal fillers and marble. I have work cast in Foundry bronze, prices on application. A recent commission, for the University of Surrey is three life sized Wolves cast in Bronze for the Lake Lawn.

I studied at High Wycombe College, very much a life modeling and casting skills course aimed at producing a working sculptor, then worked as a sculptor while preparing a portfolio. I was accepted by

St Martin’s School of Art to study under Sir Anthony Caro and

Phillip King on the Advanced Post Graduate Sculpture course. I had a studio at the Barbican from 1974 to 1977 then moved to Guildford to build my own studio.   Since 1973 I have been teaching sculpture in Adult and Community education.

I have exhibited with the Young London Sculptors and as a member of Surrey Sculpture Society I exhibit widely throughout the county in galleries, exhibitions and festivals.  My work is collected internationally.
