Alison Orchard

Best known for her atmospheric paintings of seascapes and landscapes, Alison is a believer in painting direct from the landscape. She works primarily in oil, acrylic and mixed media with gestural mark-making, surface texture, rich colour and generous palette-knifed paint. Her studio is based on a farm in Grayshott, surrounded by Hampshire countryside. She has regular painting trips to Cornwall, soaking up its dramatic coastlines, which provide a great source of inspiration.

Alison first attended St. Ives School of Art in 1986 and at the age of 18 won the Scott, Brownrigg & Turner Award for Art.  She studied at Epsom School of Art & Design (Foundation Diploma) and Harrow College (B.A. hons).

Alison worked as a commercial illustrator and designer, before deciding to pursue her fine art career. A debut solo exhibition ‘Arvor’ was held at GalleryOne in 2009 and following this initial success, she has continued to exhibit and develop her distinct style. In 2012, she was selected for annual inclusion in Who’s Who in Art and in 2014 was chosen for accreditation as a Golden Artist Educator.

Alison’s work has been exhibited at The Royal College of Art, London and at various art fairs, with exhibitions in South East England, London, Guernsey and Portugal.
