I find most of my inspiration in the structural landscape around me, perhaps busy city life or beautiful villages.
I want the architectural element to be understood but I aim to capture the mood & spirit of a place by using layers of paint, blurred edges and unconscious marks. I add finer details towards the end using pieces of card in a random way as I want the finished painting to retain a feeling of motion and intrigue.
My figures are romantic, sometimes moody and set on abstract messy backgrounds but again achieved by layers of paint, some collage and other mark making implements.
