Sarah Tysoe

I am a self-taught watercolourist, having sketched and painted from childhood. I am inspired by all types of landscape, flowers, trees, changing seasons and am attracted to quite remote countryside, I spent childhood living on the Wirral peninsula where sketching and painting seascapes was a regular pastime – and the spectacular Snowdonia landscape was on the doorstep.

Having experimented with most mediums, and in early days painting mostly in oils, I became fascinated by the challenge and translucency of watercolour about 10 years ago, and more recently am particularly drawn to the method used by Welsh artist, Peter Cronin, RSMA, whom I greatly admire,  using only 3 washes, which is in itself a test of mettle, but exciting and enjoyable.

I lived in Ascot, Berkshire for many years, enjoying commissions, and exhibiting successfully with the Windsor Art Collective along with 20 artists. I continue to take commissions, having moved to this area recently and am enjoying the Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex landscape – a painter’s dream.

To sum up,  every piece of work is an excitement, a discovery and a form of personal development.
