Art on the Railings

ART on the RAILINGS will begin again on the first Saturday in May and continue on a monthly basis thereafter (coinciding with Maltings Market, weather permitting) until September from 10am - 4pm. Dubbed "Farnham's Montmartre", the exhibition will showcase local artists' work on the railings alongside the River Wey at Riverside Walk beside the Maltings. It was a Farnham Art Society initiative and has the enthusiastic support of Farnham Town Council and the Maltings. Usually over a hundred works for sale (and takeaway) from up to eighteen artists, helping to revive Farnham's town centre and add to its existing reputation for creativity as a Craft city. The Maltings itself will be open for markets, exhibitions, activities and of course refreshments.

EACH MALTINGS MARKET SATURDAY (weather permitting) through May to September 2024 "Art on The Railings" will return to the Riverside walk railings beside the Farnham Maltings for all FAS members to take part in to showcase and sell their art. If you haven't tried it, give it a go. It is both enjoyable and profitable. Space obviously is limited so get in touch with Tim Simmons if you want to take part and he will send you the conditions.

In order that we can make the necessary logistical preparations every week, please let Tim know if you intend to show your art by contacting him before the Saturday you wish to show your work. There is a fee of £5 for the day.

All work to be clearly labelled with price and medium. Min price £50.

Please arrive 9am to put up by 10.00 and then take down from 4.00pm. You do not need to be there for the whole day but are welcome to stay to help during the day. The closest car park is the Maltings car park and it is just a 1 min walk to the railing from there.

Can you please contact Tim Simmons if you would like to take part in this ongoing exciting opportunity!

Full details for 2025 can be found here.
